I grew up in the restaurant biz, loving food. At a young age, I learned
how to make a whole range of cookies from chocolate chip to lemon drop to thumb print,
but never one too challenging. I stumbled upon the French macaron during a friendly debate
on the pronunciation of macaroon versus macaron (for the record, it’s mah-kerohn). Intrigued by
its delicate nature, I challenged myself to make the very finicky confection.
The first batch was
taste-tested on friends and coworkers. One tester after another encouraged me to make this into
the real deal and, well, the rest is history. My first market was in June 2016 at the Somerville Flea,
so maca definitely has a special love for Somerville.
I heard about Bow Market from a friend in Somerville, and thought this was my chance.
I’ve always dreamed of opening my own place, but the struggle is SO real for a small business.
Bow Market is filled with badass people, who all have this crazy hustle. We each have a different
following, so I’m excited to see what happens when we’re all in the same place.
