* Which beliefs, behaviors, identities do I need to mourn and release?
* What gifts do I want to celebrate and nurture?
* What newness wants to emerge and be created through me?
* The intentional actions aligned with our values that will support my journey..

A series highlighting local women in wellness to cover topics in all things health, wellness, and lifestyle!

About this Event

In, hopefully the first of many in this series, we'll come together and dive into the power of our feminine cycle and discuss how to nurture our monthly flow to support our strength as women instead of viewing our menstrual cycle as our monthly burden.

In this workshop you can expect:

  • The basics of our hormonal and menstrual cycle

  • Lifestyle edits we can make to support our endocrine system

  • The basics of the lunar cycle and it's relationship to the feminine body

  • A guided meditation to drop-in and support our mental space during different phases of our cycle

  • Ways to incorporate essential herbs as a natural remedy for menstrual symptoms

  • A tea making ceremony to learn how to incorporate the herbs in your daily life and go home with your own DIY tea bag filled with our collective feminine energy!

A little about our hosts:

Jessica Moy is a doctor of physical therapy, yoga instructor, and holistic health and movement coach.

Sarah Sibley is a community herbalist and certified Reiki 2 practitioner, with a degree in Environmental & Ocean Science.

Both hope to continue expanding the wellness field and connecting to people like you! You can find them on instagram @iamjessicamoy and @squibley

**Light snacks and refreshments will also be provided! Parking is available via metered street spaces so please allot time prior to the event.

PORCHFEST at BOW

12PM-8PM

Bow Market joins in on the PorchFest fun - we’ll be celebrating market-wide and so can YOU by drinking freely around our outdoor courtyard or sip ‘n shop our fab retailers. Be sure to make a stop at Bow during this special day in the streets of Somerville - YAY!

Musicians and bands throughout Somerville will celebrate and utilize an underused public venue: The Porch.  Acts—ranging from bollywood funk, cosmic americana, killer blues, Moroccan, Balkan, gospel, American space rock and clawhammer banjo—will serenade passersby from porches throughout Somerville.

Parking restrictions will be relaxed in residential areas from 12 to 6 pm.

In 2011, the Council created a decentralized music festival--Porchfest.  Perhaps you’ve sat on your porch and overheard a neighbor strumming guitar on another porch?  Porchfest takes this idea and multiplies it. This is not a festival per se but rather a community event where Somervillians share their love of playing and listening to music.  Think of Somerville Open Studios, which is for visual artists, but for music.

–––––
Gentle Temper ->
In 2016 Ryan Meier and Marion Earley split from their respective bands to embark on a new project, Gentle Temper. Self-described as the ocean folk duo, over the course of their formation they explored newer, more intimate musical territory and have woven a new cloak from a stripped, lyrically-driven thread. They find strength in their use of rhythm, swinging from calm to calamity like the tides they often allude to. Their live sound builds on a sturdy foundation of lyrical storytelling, animated harmonies, & a steady undercurrent of musical dynamic swells.

After nearly a year of sporadic trips to Red Bull Arts recording studio in 2017, Gentle Temper have realized their debut album, “Our Warm Red Light”. Released on October 7th, 2018, “Our Warm Red Light” tells the story of two people exercising the boundaries of their comfort and participating in the life of the other. Their story recites the journey of hardship and reward for a fledgling duo determined to grow.

–––––
Hawthorn ->
Working from the belief that tradition is made to evolve, the women of Hawthorn chart a creative course through Appalachian and Celtic roots to the present-day. Heather Scott and Taylor Holland craft songs with “a weight that sits with you long after their audible presence fades” (Red Line Roots). “When they harmonize, the edges of their voices bleed together like watercolors on paper” (WBUR). With a powerful vocal blend surrounded in old-time banjo, seascape guitar, and dreamy electric lines, Hawthorn is quickly claiming a place in the music of New England and beyond. Their second full-length album, ‘Maggie Willow,’ is now available everywhere.

–––––
Dead Gowns ->
Dead Gowns is a newer project from Portland, Maine. After collecting ourselves in the winter of 2018, we released our first EP this past July. Pulling on folk, garage, and soft rock tendencies, it's music in the raw & tender.
