FAQ for Artists
How does this work?
Artists will take up residence in Bow Market’s experiential art space for between 1 and 3 months
You take home 100% of the money you make. You pay $0 in rent.
Is my piece “Experiential Art?”
Our current working definition (as in subject to refinement and change) of experiential art is:
Art where the presentation, installation, or performance focuses in part on the experience the audience has of the work. Elements may include things like: immersiveness, subverting expectations of format, and closer or different relationship to the artist themself.
What does Bow expect from the Artists in Residence?
The Artist is in charge of the physical space. There is no Bow Market staff person dedicated to tending this space. This includes opening & closing the space, creating the schedule of your open hours, and taking out any trash generated
If there is ticketing, the artist is in charge of running their own ticket sales (including which ticket platform to use).
There has to be some part of the experience that is available to the public (this is not a closed studio space)
The Artist is in charge of the visuals/branding & the marketing the installation
What is the Artist in Residence agreeing to?
You will provide Bow Market with any email lists generated as part of your time at Bow Market
You will promote this program and other the other Artist in Residence through your channels
You will host one patron-only moment during your pop-up (For example, a special performance or artist talk, or 30 minute preview & chat for patrons before official opening event)
What should the Artists in Residence expect from Bow?

Artists in Residence will be a part of the Bow Market business community for the length of their residency
