A Japanese Tenugui Hand Towel is usually referred to as a hand cloth, but for the Japanese it’s meant to be used in many different ways. Tenugui is a thin cotton cloth that is rectangular in shape. Its sides are stitched, but its ends are unfinished. This is because it is meant to be cut to any length to use in any way that you like. You can use a tenugui as a kitchen towel, a dishcloth, a body wash towel, a gym cloth, a bandana, a small furoshiki (a small wrapping cloth to carry goods), etc. Unlike regular towels, it doesn’t leave lint for small pieces when wiping down glass or windows. Because it is made of thin cotton, it will dry quickly. The water wave print is a very traditional Japanese pattern.
