Welcome foodies! Join us for a fun evening at Nibble Kitchen for our new cooking class series, Sips and Small Bites. Vekonda Luangaphay, Chef and Founder of The Lao Project, will be leading us on an intimate culinary experience celebrating the vibrant flavors and rich heritage of Laos. Growing up in a Lao family, Vekonda was immersed in the traditions of Lao cooking—where meals are a communal experience, balancing bold herbs, citrus, and spices to create dishes that are both fragrant and flavorful.
At this event, guests will savor Laap Chicken Lettuce Cups with Sticky Rice, a traditional minced chicken salad infused with lime, fermented fish sauce, fresh herbs, and toasted rice, perfectly paired with the signature Mekong Muse Mocktail—a harmonious blend of lemongrass, tamarind, ginger, lime, and coconut that captures the essence of Lao flavor in every sip.
This tasting celebrates the vibrant flavors and warm communal spirit of Lao culture, where every sip and bite tells a story of home, heritage, and connection.
Cocktail
Mekong Muse: A signature Lao-inspired cocktail blending the warmth of whiskey with the bright, citrusy notes of lemongrass, the tang of tamarind, a hint of ginger spice, and the creamy richness of coconut. This layered libation captures the essence of Laos in every sip, offering a harmonious balance of herbal, tropical, and slightly sweet flavors. Perfectly garnished with a lemongrass stalk and lime wheel, it’s as aromatic as it is visually striking.
Non-Alcoholic Sip
Lotus GlowA vibrant, refreshing mocktail that honors Lao tradition and hospitality. Freshly brewed lemongrass tea is shaken with tamarind syrup, ginger, and lime juice, then topped with sparkling water for a lively effervescence. Lightly sweet, tangy, and aromatic, this drink captures the same balance of flavors found in Lao cuisine. Garnished with a lemongrass stalk and lime wheel, it’s an uplifting alternative for all guests.
