Save the date for some community fun on Sunday, October 19, from 2:00–6:00 PM on Somerville Ave (from School St to Washington Ave),
(Severe weather date: Sunday, October 26)

Get ready for a spooktacular afternoon at Monster Mash, a free and family-friendly Halloween celebration in Union Square! Come in costume and show off your spooky costumes in our Halloween Parade.

  • Community Halloween Parade led by School of Honk (Meet at 37 Union Square at 3:15 PM)

  • Local craft vendors curated by Blue Banda Relics and Tiny Turns Paperie

  • Pumpkin carving with Somerville Recreation

  • Haunted house and cardboard creations by Monano Arts

  • Spooktacular arts activities with Dani Folds and Culichi Arts

  • Performances and movement activities by Cate the Great, Just Felice, EventThem, Behind the Masks Studios, and Parkour Generations

  • Showcase of Somerville’s Fire truck, Department of Public Works Truck, Ambulance and Police! Come and snap a photo!

  • BYO-Water Bottle! MWRA will have their water buggy so that you can stay hydrated!

  • Artistic cut-outs spread throughout Somerville Ave, designed by local artist Nate Devarie

  • Come learn about the local Non-Profits, City Departments and Arts organizations!

2:00 PM – BosWitches Opening Dance
2:15 to 3:15 PM – Pluto’s Return
3:30 PM – School of Honk Parade kicks off (starting at the Union Square Stage)
3:45 to 4:30 PM – Madalena Silva
4:30 to 4:45 PM – BosWitches Monster Mash Macarena
4:45 to 6:00 PM – Vinyl session by NXN – bring your own vinyl to be spinned!

Road Closures & Parking Restrictions:

  • Somerville Avenue (School St. to Washington St, Union Square) Closed to all vehicular traffic: 11 a.m.– 8 p.m.

  • No parking: 9 a.m.–8 p.m.

  • Quincy St., Church St., and Bow St. will operate as two-way streets between Summer St. and Somerville Ave. from 11 a.m.– 8 p.m. to allow access for abutters.

  • Hawkins St. will operate as two-way from Lake St. to Washington Ave. from 11 a.m.– 8 p.m. to allow access for abutters.

  • MBTA buses will be rerouted from 11 a.m.– 8 p.m. For updated stop locations, visit MBTA.com.
