A note from Tamy at maca boston:
All proceeds from this years Sweets and Santa Community bake sale will go to the research clinic at Tufts Medical Center - Oncology and Hematology department run by Dr. Andreas Klein (my doctor). With my specific leukemia, B-Cell ALL ph+, I’ve been fortunate enough to benefit from cancer research and clinical trials of this cancer that we have not had to start off with a full blast of chemo. Instead, we’re able to target the specific protein that was created - that’s causing the leukemia cell production - and slow it down, alongside intrathecal chemo in the brain for preventative measures. This alone has allowed me to start treatment with a better quality of life. And so it is my, our, way to say thank you for something I never thought I would need, or even appreciate. Thirty years ago this treatment plan would not have been an option and if we can make any difference at all, I’d like to show some appreciation to everything I’ve been able to take advantage of today. We hope you join us for some holiday festive fun, baked goods and of course pictures with Santa. With love, Tamy (maca)”
